Transforming Transit: Our Journey to a Sustainable Future

Meet Emily, a Local Teacher:

"Every day, I spend over an hour stuck in traffic on Highway 92. This isn't just my story; it's the story of many in our community. Our time, our environment, our peace of mind — all trapped in the endless cycle of congestion."

A Greener, More Connected Silicon Valley

Imagine a Silicon Valley where the serene beauty of Half Moon Bay is just a stress-free ride away. Where our commitment to innovation paves the way for sustainable, efficient mass transit along highway 92. This is not a distant dream; it's a plan waiting to unfold.

Our proposal aims to integrate various mass transit solutions, creating a seamless, environmentally friendly, and enjoyable travel experience from San Mateo to Half Moon Bay. By embracing diverse transit methods, including an aerial tram, enhanced bus services, and possibly extending BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) services, we aim to reduce traffic congestion, lower carbon emissions, and enrich the overall quality of life in our community.

Join us to move towards a more sustainable future!

1. Aerial Tramway - A Scenic Gateway:

Inspired by the proposal for an aerial tram over Highway 92, we envision this as a flagship project. This tramway would not only offer a unique and scenic route over the Santa Cruz Mountains but also serve as a symbol of our commitment to innovative transportation solutions. The tramway would alleviate road congestion while providing a breathtaking travel experience, enhancing tourism and local economy.

2. Enhanced SamTrans Services - The Backbone of Local Transit:

Building upon the existing SamTrans services, we propose the expansion and enhancement of bus routes and frequencies between San Mateo and Half Moon Bay. Incorporating eco-friendly buses and optimizing routes for efficiency will offer residents a more reliable and sustainable option for their daily commute and leisure travel.

3. Exploring BART Expansion - A Long-Term Vision:

While ambitious, extending the BART system to reach Half Moon Bay represents a long-term goal worth exploring. This extension would integrate Half Moon Bay into the larger Bay Area transit network, significantly improving accessibility and reducing reliance on personal vehicles.

4. Supporting Alternative Transportation Modes:

In line with the "Get There Together Plan", we advocate for improved facilities for carpooling, biking, and pedestrian pathways. Enhancing these facilities will encourage a shift towards healthier, more sustainable modes of travel.

  • Reduced Traffic Congestion: By providing attractive alternatives to personal car use, we aim to significantly reduce traffic congestion on Highway 92, particularly during peak tourist seasons.

  • Environmental Sustainability: Each of these transit options contributes to our goal of reducing carbon emissions and preserving the natural beauty of our region.

  • Economic Growth: Improved accessibility to Half Moon Bay will bolster local businesses and tourism, fostering economic growth.

  • Enhanced Quality of Life: Reduced travel stress, cleaner air, and increased recreational opportunities will collectively enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.

Our proposal is more than just a plan for transit; it's a vision for a more connected, sustainable, and vibrant Silicon Valley. We invite the community to join us in realizing this vision, creating a legacy of innovation and environmental stewardship for generations to come. Together, let's pave the way towards a greener, more accessible future.
